Great for getting movies and programs. Not for music though....

I always look for the ones that end in .aXXo because those always have stunning visual and audio quality. Always read the comments if any cuz the ppl know best.

piratebay is good along with isohunt but whats really nice is www.torrentz.com it lists all the sites that have your selection... but if you dont see it on that site dont lose hope cuz your file might be labeled something else so if torrentz doesnt show it the check your site.... but most of all just google it and torrentz.com will pop up or isohunt or piratebay

are you talking bout www.torrentz.com? if so i agree but what i do is google the title + torrent then if it pops up ill click it or piratebay or isohunt...

I think torrentz was the one with no comments, I depend on the comments to tell me whether its safe or not.

My last computer was a casualty of a computer virus unfortunately...

What antivirus do you run on your comp? I got McAfee which is pretty basic but I got it for free cuz of my mom has a comcast account and I got CCcleaner which they installed on this computer cuz its like a little bit custom. (Cept they had forgot to install Microsoft Office and I had a hell of a time getting that -.- but thats another story) Im looking for Kaspersky because I heard its really good and I dont want my computer to get pwned by a virus person and since you say u know about sending virus's you prolly know how to stop em too.

The thing about torrentz.com is its like a google for torrents and when you click the different links it give you the comments from the site. I agree it has a very unfriendly feel about it but it works. With torrents you tend to nvr get viruses because the way it works is that you take little pieces from a bunch of people (seeds) so the chances of it containing a virus and no one noticing it would be rare. Now the best way to prevent viruses is to use common sense, check your comments, and have large amounts of seeds. I mean i only have McAfee because i also have Comcast, and i have some of the options turned off because it interfeers with my own malicious software. Really McAfee doesn't do much it hardly detects anything. Really what i suggest is to turn off auto-update(it will increase comp. speed) but continually scan and update software while you sleep. The scan doesn't detect much but the obvious stuff but hey its something. But by common sense i mean if there's a .exe trying to run when you don't expect it or something is downloading obviously stop it. I mean Vista in a decent persons hands is really a secure system. Mostly just don't be dumb, don't download things that seem odd (e.g. unexpected email attachment) but i mean just common sense.

shmeh I might just stick wit McAfee. I just feel like I need more protection

i know how you feel but anti-virus software can drag your computer down just as much as a virus so...

I just turned off the automatic update like you said and I can already notice the speed increase.

also i dont know if you did this as well but the auto-update turn off the feedback (sends data back to McAfee). The reason you turn these off is because what its doing is constantly send, download and install data from McAfee in the background. Which is like constantly installing a game while doing everything you normally do.

That makes sense. My download speed sucks cuz of my crappy connection so that prolly would make it even worse. But i disabled it I already notice a good increase.

yeah we had the same problem and so does Pat H. but what u can do is get an amplifier. I already have one idk if we still use it or not...

but it might also be that ur ISP (Internet Service Provider) is capping off ur download and upload rate at a low speed...

so especially if u are downloading files its gonna hurt.

IDK if u already know this but when ur downloads are finished u select them then click stop, because if u don't people will be consantly accessing ur computer and downloading the files from ur comp which will slow ur internet. Also when people are caught for pirating files its only been for uploading and not downloading.

Now you can also turn off the upload while ur downloading the file but if u do so the file will actually download slower

so what i do is turn the upload off by clicking stop after its finished but leaving uploading on while the actual download process.

Hmm that seems complicated but possible.

i prob. made it sound more complicated than it rly is all u do is click stop when its finished downloading.

lol each browser does stuff differently. So like even when your done downloading its uploading until you tell it to stop?

well yeah they kinda designed it tht way on purpose so tht people will be able to DL what they want from people who dont know enough about computers... lol

but with utorrent you just select the finished torrent and click stop

I remove the torrents from my bittorent as soon as it is done so that is a good thing. But I also download a lot from my browser

yea and half the links that the site lists has ur torrent make u either pay money, have to sign up, do surveys and or download software...torrentz.com has a great selection but doesnt do it for me
